Biographical Notes

Christopher Tarnow studied Tonmeister at the Detmold University of Music and composition at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig with Reinhard Pfundt.

Since 2013 he has been regular piano accompanist for the thereminist Carolina Eyck, with whom he gives concerts worldwide. He has composed various works for this instrumentation, including the first two sonatas for theremin and piano ever written. The duo has already released two CDs with their own works and improvisations one of which received an ICMA nomination in the category “Contemporary” in 2015.

He also works regularly with pianist Hardy Rittner, for whom he wrote his Piano Concerto, the premiere of which was made possible by Bayer Arts and Culture in 2015.

In 2019 he received the annual composition commission issued by the Association of Arts and Culture of the German Economy at the Federation of German Industries (Kulturkreis der Deutschen Wirtschaft im BDI e.V.).
